Disabling the Default Shares

Windows 2000

To disable the default shares running in Windows 2000:

  1. Click the Start button in the lower left corner of the desktop.
  2. Click Settings, then click Control Panel.
  3. Double-click the Administrative Tools icon.
  4. Double-click the Services icon.
  5. Scroll down and double-click Server.
  6. In the Server Properties dialog, change the Startup Type to Disabled.
  7. Click Apply, then click OK.

Windows NT

To disable the default shares running in Windows NT:

  1. Click the Start button in the lower left corner of the desktop.
  2. Click Settings, then click Control Panel.
  3. Double-click the Services icon.
  4. Scroll down and double-click Server.
  5. Change the Startup Type to Disabled.
  6. Click Close, then restart your computer.
